Flood Map Update

The premium rating at individual property level first began in Shrewsbury in November 2003 and East Sussex and Norfolk are now live on the digital flood map. By summer 2004, the map will be used by Norwich Union and others in underwriting decisions for all the high flood risk areas across the UK.
For the 5,000,000 people living or working in flood risk areas, this means more accurate premiums and a better understanding of the risk to their properties. In some cases, the map will bring even greater benefits as it may indicate that a property previously thought to be at risk of flooding is in fact at little or even no risk at all.
This has been a point of issue with many commercial clients in recent years and hopefully, this more scientific approach will see an end to such disputes.
